This Saturday the theme at City Kidz was that we should be thankful. Some of the kids were asked what they were thankful for. One said: “My life” the other: “My family” and another: ”My friends”. A girl next to me shouted “I am thankful for God!”. Each day we have many trials and tribulations but we have to remain positive and thankful for the many great things in our lives, such as family, friends and shelter. At City Kidz we are thankful for the opportunity to be with the kids and families, together we do our best to impact each child in a positive way.
What are you thankful for?

That’s a great question! We were asking the same thing so much that we decided to create a site, Thankfulfor.com (http://thankfulfor.com ), an online gratitude journal, so everyone could share their gratitude. Give it a try and let us know what you think.
I’ve been down in the maritimes all week spending time with several different kids programs and teams working with children in the inner city of Saint John, Moncton, and Halifax. The topics they’ve been teaching have also been on the theme of being thankful. One of the important lessons we need to remember is to thank God for the tough and challenging things as well as the good things. When I spend time with these kids, knowing and seeing the things they live with everyday, and then I hear them say how thankful they are for food, and a house, and clothes, it really puts it into perspective. No matter how bad things get, there is always something to be thankful for. Ps. 56:8 says “You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”
Our kids need to know that even though things are hard, God understands what they go through, and He cares.
I’m thankful for the children he places in my path everyday, and the opportunities I have to show unconditional love to each of them.
In this Thanksgiving season we so often think of all the things God has given us – at least the good things. Don’t get me wrong, we need to thank Him for those gift but we need to be thankful for the challenges as well. It is through facing the trials, through journeying in the wilderness for a time, through sharing times of sadness that we truly grow. As I think of the most challenging experiences in my life I realize that without Him I would likely not get through. Because of those challenges, we become stronger, our faith deepens and we are better prepared for whatever will come our way in the future. So this Thanksgiving, as you celebrate with family and friends, thank Him for the journey – the whole journey – that has brought you to where you are today.
this experiance has been so awesome. Just to have time with the kidz makes me very happy and i can see that when i was littles this was how i felt ……
I am thankful to have my family and friends, my animals as well. I am also thankful that city kidz is here that i could go spend my saturdays there with alot of kids. I’m also thankful that i have my nephew Cameron here in this world now. i have so many things to be thankful for everyday.
I’m thankful for all the kids on route 72, I’m thankful for the team at City Kidz; the staff, the bus drivers, the junior leaders, the volunteers who staff all the support positions, the Captains, and Programs and Kinderkids.
City Kidz has a very special place in my heart, in which likely will be a connection again in the future. God gave me time to be part of this great team and I’ve found He has healed part of my heart that was scared when it came to trusting and loving others, cause now that I’m leaving I find that it really hurts to leave so many people who have impacted my life. Your all really great people, who shine with the love of Jesus, I’m going to miss you all, but at the same time I’ve been blessed to get to know so many of you.
For this I’m truly thankful to our Lord and Saviour.
Will always be praying for you
Paul Martin
