Business Leaders Team up to Make Space for More Children

On Tuesday, January 5th, 2010, Tony De Pasquale of Copper Cliff Metals & Wrecking Corp., Steve Stipsits, President of Branthaven Homes, Fred Losani, CEO of Losani Homes, and Ron Foxcroft, President of Fox 40 Whistles, and Fluke Transport, will be teaming up to help City Kidz prepare to help more children in the community.

Tony, Steve, Fred and Ron will be donating their time and resources to tear down the house on the lot adjacent to the Playhouse theatre, where thousands of children attend a dynamic Saturday program each year.  The removal of the house from the property will make way for a brand new loading zone for the familiar red buses that City Kidz uses to transport the children to and from the program.  City Kidz is thankful for the added safety and efficiency that this will create as it will allow them to extend their services to many more children.

Currently, over 1800 children are being impacted each week through the programs of City Kidz, with over 900 attending each Saturday, but the plan is to be reaching 5000 by 2013. In order to accommodate this growth, City Kidz needs to provide extra levels of safety and efficiency.  By tearing down the house and paving the lot at 181 Sherman Ave., City Kidz will be able to make a designated drop off and pick-up zone, thus increasing safety for the children.

“It all started with a conversation about how we wished we could tear down the house so we could provide added safety for the children.  That’s all it took for Tony, Fred, Steve and Ron to decided they would make it happen. It’s amazing what can happen when leaders in our community work together.   We are very grateful!”,  Founder and Executive Director Todd Bender.

Throughout the year, our City Kidz team builds relationships with not only our children but with churches, camps and organizations, and then we link the 2 together; matching the interests and dreams of the children to the camp opportunities that are available.

More Child Sponsors wanted for City Kidz

Tania Bardati, an educational assistant, says she was “blown away” by City Kidz during a tour in June. She loved the dedication and enthusiasm shown to each child. “We all help Haiti (and other areas) … but this is in our own back yard.” Poor countries still need help, she added, but “to see it in our back yard, this, to me, is a priority.”
