At City Kidz, we have the best volunteers any one could ask for.
In 2009 there were over 1000 City Kidz volunteers who gave over 60 000 hours, amazing!
Many of our volunteers lead busy lives as students, business people and we even have retirees that come down and give their time. They understand that the time they give makes a difference in the lives of children from the inner city! With out these great volunteers, City Kidz would not be able to visit over 2000 children in their homes each week and we we would not be able to bus in 1000 children to our facilities every Saturday. Thank you so much to every volunteer that has helped us throughout the year, whether it was an hour wrapping gifts for Christmas, 3 hours or more driving a bus or a consistent 8 hours a week reaching out to the many children in our community, every little bit matters!
To all our volunteers, we thank you, and our kids thank you!
Here is the story of one of our volunteers from our latest Newsletter:
LYNDA KELLY
Lynda Kelly is one of City Kidz most treasured volunteers. She has been a godsend to many City Kidz Staff and to the children of Hamilton.
Lynda serves as a team Captain, which means that she is out pounding the pavement, knocking on doors to visit around 70 kids each and every week and then picks them up at their door to take them to City Kidz or to Kinder Kidz. She is truly making a difference in the lives of so many children with her weekly commitments. On top of all of that, Lynda has taken on a key role in making sure that all of the children receive a birthday present and a card from City Kidz. She personally wraps many of those gifts and prepares a birthday room for the children to celebrate in.
Over the last few years, Lynda has been a huge help in the Christmas Toy Store. She has wrapped countless gifts, and has helped make Christmas special for so many boys and girls.
This is just a snapshot of all that Lynda has been doing for City Kidz. Her commitment and dedication is admirable, but what is unfathomable is that she has been battling Cancer through it all. While the battle is not over in her war against cancer, she continues to fight and be an example and inspiration to all of she has contact with.
Thank you Lynda!!!
