Many of us are able to provide camp opportunities for our own families. We wish this were true for every child; but it is not. When we visit our children every week it is very clear that there are few opportunities available to them. This is where City Kidz Summer to Remember program comes in. Throughout the year, our City Kidz team builds relationships with not only our children but with churches, camps and organizations, and then we link the 2 together; matching the interests and dreams of the children to the camp opportunities that are available. We then work with the parents in getting all required paper work together, arrange transportation, provide supervision and even in one instance pack for the child to go to camp!
Mitchell (age 10) is one of the over 270 children who had such an opportunity to go to camp this year. This is the impact on one child’s life….
When I found out I was going to camp, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go. When I ws at camp I was happy though because I met Braden, my counsellor, he became my friend. We played the theme game together
I also had fun when we played in the water. My friend John and I found clay and liked to play in it. When I left camp I was sad because I was going to miss Brayden. Before I left, he gave me a necklace. I really like it, but it makes me miss him more.
Thank you very much to the people who helped me to go to camp. I will remember all the fun I had. If I hadn’t gone to camp I woudl be sitting at home – I am happy I got to go to camp.
