Are you interested in joining a dynamic summer team that runs inspiring day camps for children who live in low-income neighbourhoods of Hamilton? Are you passionate about serving children and their families? If your answers are yes, read on.

Overview: 
The CityKidz Summer to Remember program offers love, acceptance, and growth opportunities for children aged 6 to 12. Through a combination of activities and experiences, participants have fun and are inspired to dream of a future in which they can achieve their God-given potential. 

 
Profile: 
Reporting to the Coordinator of Children’s Programs, the Summer Program Assistant provides hands-on contributions to the delivery of summer programs. Their contributions come in the form of assisting with activity development and execution, administrative support, and direct leadership with children. They play an important role in engaging, entertaining, and inspiring children and their families.

 

Responsibilities: 
1. Summer to Remember 

  • Assist with summer program preparation (digital assets, activity preparation, space readiness) 
  • Assist with live program elements including songs, skits and games 
  • Assist with promotion and enrollment of participants 
  • Assist with daily administration tasks (attendance, incident reports etc.) 
  • Provide program leadership and participant supervision on buses and during programs. 
  • Provide support to program evaluation and follow up 

 

2. CityKidz Online 

  • Assist with the creation of digital media (eg. Production planning, graphics, on-camera presence, etc.) 
  • Assist with mobile filming units that feature children 

 

3. Teamwork and Program Support 

  • Attend and participate in team and organizational meetings 
  • Support Community programs, as directed by the Coordinator 
  • Organize and maintain team spaces and equipment 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Qualifications and Demonstrated Skills: 

  • Comfortable working in a faith-based organization 
  • Demonstrated team player with a high level of integrity 
  • Commitment to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment 
  • Experience working with children
  • Ability to follow direction 
  • Effective program administration skills 
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office software

CityKidz is a non-profit, Christian organization dedicated to increasing resiliency and inspiring big dreams for Canadian children living in low-income communities by providing inspirational experiences and nurturing personal relationships, one child at a time.

Overview:
The Bus Driver is responsible for supporting the implementation of CityKidz programs by safely transporting participants, volunteers and staff to and from CityKidz programs.

Responsibilities:

1. Preparation 

  • Prepare for trip by researching the route and being knowledgeable of any closures
  • Complete a circle check prior to the bus departing 
  • Communicate any concerns to the Coordinator of Operations or designated site leader

2. Transportation 

  • Adhere to all laws and CityKidz policies while operating the bus 
  • Communicate with the Bus Leader regarding any concerns in the route, activity on the bus, or operation of the bus 

3. End of Trip 

  • Complete end of trip paperwork and leave in the bus binder 
  • Ensure the bus is properly cleaned and sanitized 
  • Ensure bus is parked with the battery secure

4. Other responsibilities as assigned 

Qualifications: 

 The Bus Driver should know:  

  • the values of CityKidz
  • the policies and procedures of CityKidz
  • the details for CityKidz Programs

The Bus Driver should be able to: 

  • maintain control of the CityKidz bus 
  • adhere to all traffic laws 
  • complete a circle check and the required paperwork 
  • communicate with bus team members regarding timing, changing circumstances and concerns with the bus 
  • adapt to meet the needs of the CityKidz Saturday Programs

The Bus Driver must have:  

  • Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Valid Class B or C Driver’s License  
  • Previous experience with CityKidz routes preferred

Overview:

The Cares Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Cares Programs. Working closely with other members of the Community Program Team, they play a support role in the planning, preparation and execution of Operation Birthday Child, Care Kits, Family Meal Kits & Gift of Christmas. They report to the Manager of Community Programs, and are functionally supervised by the CityKidz Cares Coordinator.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Family Meal Kits

  • Oversee volunteers scheduled for Family Meal Kit assembly, providing training, coaching and fostering a positive environment
  • Ensure Family Meal Kit activity packages are printed and assembled according to the schedule
  • Support facilitation of food deliveries
  • Submit monthly metrics

 

2. Birthdays

  • Oversee volunteers scheduled for Birthday Gift assembly, providing training, coaching and fostering a positive environment
  • Support Team Captains in Gift Selection, and select where a Captain is not available
  • Submit monthly metrics
  • Provide monthly withdrawals of toys to maintain accurate records of toy inventory
  • Participate in annual Birthday survey

 

3. Care Kits

  • Oversee volunteers scheduled for Care Kit assembly, providing training, coaching and fostering a positive environment
  • Complete follow up call with families that have been nominated and approved
  • Ensure Care Kit supplies are received and stored in an organized and safe way
  • Complete follow up for Care Kits that require additional delivery attempt
  • Participate in quarterly Care Kits Survey

 

4. Gift of Christmas

  • Support Set Up & Take Down of Toy Store
  • Facilitate Community Partnerships
  • Assist with volunteers schedule for Gift Wrapping & Toy Store Support

5.  Reports & Meetings

  • Attend and participate in department and organizational meetings
  • Submit reports as requested

 

6. Front Line Program Support

  • Participate in both Community Programming and Children & Youth Programming as directed by supervisor

 

Qualifications and Demonstrated Skills:

  • Comfortable working in a faith-based organization.
  • Commitment to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • One year of program related experience preferred.
  • Strong administration skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs. 
  • Excellent organization, task, and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Must have initiative and the ability to follow through with limited supervision.
  • Ability to make positive connections and relationships with volunteers
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams, staff, and volunteers.
  • Strong passion for the mission of CityKidz.
  • Valid G Class driver’s license and regular access to transportation.
