CityKidz is seeking a passionate & outgoing Community Outreach Specialist to join in our mission of building nurturing personal relationships with children and caregivers. Community Outreach Specialists will have a front row seat as our children grow and dream and see lives transformed. Position Overview:  

The Community Outreach Specialist is a part time, 30 hours/month contract position and member of the Programs team. The Community Outreach Specialist will build and establish nurturing relationships with children and caregivers in a designated service area. They will accomplish this through weekly Home Visits and CityKidz Saturday Programming. Through weekly Home Visits, Specialists provide valuable information about CityKidz programs, events, and policies, ensuring that families are informed and engaged. They actively build relationships, fostering trust and understanding, and work towards creating a supportive network within the community. They only serve as ambassadors of CityKidz but also play a crucial role in identifying and addressing the unique needs of each family.

This position is up to 13 hours per week. 

Work hours will be shared in interview process.

Responsibilities:  

Home Visit Leader:

  • Give leadership to designated community in Hamilton 
  • Provide communication to registered families regarding CityKidz programs, events and policies
  • Consistently build relationships with participants and caregivers
  • Recruit new participants using CityKidz enrolment process
  • Serve as a brand ambassador of CityKidz, representing faith, hope and love in the community in a safe and inclusive way
  • Report any concerns of child safety to the Coordinator of Community Outreach and/or Children’s Aid Society
  • Schedule volunteers to support Home Visits 

Saturday Bus Leader:

  • Give leadership to transporting children to and from CityKidz programs, maintaining the safety of participants and volunteers
  • Create experience of safety, fun and program anticipation and relationship building during bus experience
  • Participate in CityKidz Saturday show and be a role model to participants, Jr Leaders and volunteers of how to engage with the show
  • Foster relationships with Bus Team Members & Jr Leaders
  • Provide coaching to Team Members
  • Schedule Bus Team Members for Saturday Program

Saturday Program Support:

  • Support CityKidz Saturday program in logistics role

Community Outreach:

  • Participate in the planning and implementation of participant recruitment and retention events in the community  
  • Research community groups to enhance knowledge amongst volunteers to share information to families 

Administration & Reporting:

  • Complete weekly accountability reports and metrics for community outreach work
  • Maintain accurate map of neighbourhood 
  • Attend monthly Community Outreach Team Meeting
  • Attend biweekly 1:1 with supervisor
  • Support annual program evaluation process and other community surveys

Qualifications and Demonstrated Skills:  

  • Ability to make decisions within policy, with excellent verbal communication
  • Know the values and working culture of CityKidz.
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Comfortable working in Microsoft Office, Teams, Canva
  • Organized, detail oriented and able to prioritize work
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision, and within a team
  • Ability to develop, schedule and coach a team of 5-10 volunteers
  • Comfortable working with diverse multi-faith/denominational communities
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations

The Coordinator of Community Outreach plays a key role in designing and stewarding outreach strategies that ensure strong participation in CityKidz programs. Reporting to the Manager of Programs, this position leads community partnerships, recruitment efforts, and engagement systems that build trust with families and sustain a healthy pipeline of participants aligned with program capacity.

Responsibilities:

Outreach Strategy & Pipeline Management (25%)

  • Develop and lead a 12–18 month outreach plan aligned with seasonal campaigns and capacity targets.
  • Forecast demand versus program capacity and recommend strategies to scale or adjust outreach efforts.
  • Coordinate and execute approved outreach initiatives to support participant growth.

Partnership Development & Stewardship (20%)

  • Identify and develop partnerships with schools, community organizations, and agencies.
  • Represent CityKidz within community networks and external forums.
  • Evaluate partnership effectiveness and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Data, Reporting & Evaluation (15%)

  • Maintain quarterly outreach dashboards including referrals, conversions, and retention indicators.
  • Conduct post-campaign reviews and recommend data-informed improvements.

Community Presence & Caregiver Engagement (15%)

  • Build a consistent presence in assigned neighborhoods to foster trust with caregivers and community members.
  • Represent CityKidz at community events, school gatherings, and local activities.
  • Develop and support community ambassadors to extend outreach efforts.

Retention & Reengagement Systems (15%)

  • Develop follow-up systems for participants who are disengaging or at risk of disconnecting.
  • Implement caregiver communication rhythms including updates, reminders, and check-ins.
  • Collaborate with program teams to execute re-engagement strategies across communities.

Team Support, Training & Systems (10%)

  • Provide functional supervision to Community Outreach Specialists.
  • Equip staff and volunteers with outreach tools, scripts, and training.
  • Create simple, scalable systems to support consistent community engagement.

Qualifications and Demonstrated Skills:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Services, Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Community Development, Education, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading programs, systems, or volunteer teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent CityKidz externally.
  • Experience in outreach, community engagement, or partnership development.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Experience working with data, reporting, and evaluation practices.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to build relationships with families, partners, volunteers, and teams.
  • Comfortable working in a faith-based organization.
  • Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.
  • Experience in risk management, child protection, or compliance environments is an asset.

This position supports a positive volunteer experience, from recruitment and orientation to scheduling and recognition, making CityKidz a welcoming place for all volunteers.

Responsibilities:

  1. Volunteer Recruitment (25%)
    • Develop and implement strategies to attract new volunteers.
    • Attend community events and collaborate with local organizations for recruitment.
    • Create and post volunteer listings on various platforms.
  2. Volunteer Training & Orientation (25%)
    • Design and facilitate information sessions and training for new and existing volunteers.
    • Organize training sessions to communicate CityKidz values, policies, and roles.
  3. Hosting and Onboarding New Volunteers (20%)
    • Support new volunteers during Saturday programs, ensuring they feel comfortable and engaged.
    • Pair new volunteers with experienced mentors for their initial shifts.
  4. Volunteer Communication & Support (20%)
    • Work with Coordinator of Volunteer Development to plan and prepare group opportunities when requested. 
    • Support with giving Interns daily leadership in their placements.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with volunteers to encourage participation. 
    • Develop regular volunteer newsletters.
    • Maintain volunteer centre and community.
    • Complete volunteer interviews
  5. Volunteer Recognition & Engagement Initiatives (10%)
    • Partner with the Volunteer Development Coordinator to implement volunteer appreciation efforts.
    • Collect volunteer feedback to enhance their experience.

Qualifications and Demonstrated Skills:

  • 1 year experience in recruitment, training, or volunteer management.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to engage and inspire volunteers with enthusiasm.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing schedules and onboarding.
  • Flexible to work Saturdays and attend occasional community events.
