Before you make your decision, you may have questions.

In sponsoring a child, am I sponsoring an individual child or is my money being added to the general fund?

More so than any one-time gift, your sponsorship models the behaviour we try to instil in children every week: to be faithful, and to be committed through good times and bad. Thank you for considering such a worthy and important gift.

And now to your question…

Your child sponsorship will support a real, individual child that is actively involved with CityKidz. That said, the cost of delivering our programs is many times the monthly sponsorship amount so, if anything, your gift doesn’t go into the general fund, but the general fund DOES help top up your donation and help your gift to go further.

Unlike some international development organizations, for privacy reasons we are unable to provide you with the name, birth date or home address of “your child.” So, as much as you might like to correspond with “your child” and develop a personal relationship over time, this is not something that our child sponsorship program facilitates.

However, what we are able to share with you his/her bus route so you can pray for them and know that your gift is making a real difference. And you’re always welcome to visit CityKidz and/or volunteer to see for yourself what a difference your donation is making.

What is the time frame of a child sponsorship commitment?

While we certainly hope that you can continue your commitment for years to come, you’re welcome to cancel your support at any time and for any reason. Many child sponsors have been with us for many years, and that enables us to make investments that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. If you choose to end your sponsorship, please know that we will do our best to find a new sponsor to support “your child” without missing a beat.

How can I increase or decrease my giving, or stop making payments altogether?

For any number of reasons, people make changes all the time. Please contact us by phone or email and we will take care of things quickly and to your satisfaction.

I'm concerned about my privacy, will you share or sell my information with any other organization?

No, we do not trade, sell or otherwise share your information with any other charity or organization. Your privacy is very important to us. Please feel free to read our Privacy Policy.

Since child sponsorship is on a monthly basis, will I receive 12 tax receipts?

Each February, we will issue you one cumulative tax receipt for any and all donations made during the previous calendar year.

My personal information has changed, what do I do?

No problem! Please contact us by phone or email and we will happily update your address, credit card or any other personal information that may have changed.
