See what others have to say about sponsoring a child:

Now 22 years of age, I’ve been involved with CityKidz since I was five. Over the past seventeen years my life has been transformed because of the caring and loving people at CityKidz. They taught me how to love. They taught me how to be hopeful. They taught me how to believe in the plans for my life.  When I heard that CityKidz was seeking child sponsors I knew it was time for me to say thanks.” Kaylee has sponsored a child since September, 2010.

“I sponsor a child through World Vision and realized the difference I could make right here in my own backyard. It’s not only the impact on the children, but also on their families, friends and the community that compels me to continue. CityKidz can be supported in many ways but it’s especially through child sponsorship that kids can receive ongoing love and support. The cost is minimal, but the result is priceless.”  Maggie has sponsored 6 children since 2005.

“Having known Tina and Todd Bender since before they founded CityKidz, and knowing their passion to help children is the same as ours, we feel compelled to contribute to CityKidz by sponsoring a few children each month! Over the years, we have enjoyed witnessing how the staff and volunteers truly exhibit God’s love for all His children. What a blessing CityKidz is to these children!” Ted & Stacey have sponsored 4 children since 2003.

“We’ve had the pleasure of sharing with CityKidz for over 10 years now and it just keeps getting better and better as they’re able to reach more and more children. You just can’t put a price on a child, or on the joy of investing in even one life, let alone thousands. It brings us great joy to see how far our small contribution can go.” Lisa & Darren have sponsored 11 children since 2000 and have encouraged many others to do likewise.

Financial Accountability

Your child sponsorship resources are stewarded wisely.

Rest assured, we make every effort to ensure that at least 80 cents of every sponsorship dollar goes directly to children’s programming & support and that administration (approx. 8% of our costs) and fundraising expenses (approx. 12%) are kept to an absolute minimum. Because our Ottawa and Regina branches are relatively new and have resulting one-time start-up costs that make our 80/20 target unachievable in the short-term, that is nonetheless our shared goal for them moving forward.

Frequently Asked Questions

Before you make your decision, you may have questions.

In sponsoring a child, am I sponsoring an individual child or is my money just being added to the general fund?

More so than any one-time gift, your sponsorship models the behaviour we try to instill in children every week; to be faithful, and to be committed through good times and bad. Thank you for considering such a worthy and important gift.

And now to your question…

Your child sponsorship will support a real, individual child that is actively involved with CityKidz. That said, the cost of delivering our program is many times the monthly sponsorship amount so, if anything, your gift doesn’t go into the general fund, but the general fund DOES help top up your donation and help your gift to go further.

For privacy reasons, unlike some international development organizations, unfortunately we are unable to provide you with the name, birth date or home address of “your child.” So, as much as you might like to correspond with “your child” and develop a personal relationship over time, we’re sorry but you won’t be able to do so directly.

However, what we are able to share with you his/her bus route so you can pray for them and know that your gift is making a real difference. And you’re always welcome to visit CityKidz and/or volunteer to see for yourself what a difference your donation is making.

In sponsoring a child, how long a term am I committed to?

While we certainly hope that you can continue your commitment for years to come, you’re welcome to stop at anytime and for any reason. Many child sponsors have been with us for many years, and that enables us to make investments that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. If you choose to end your sponsorship, please know that we will do our best to find a new sponsor to come along side “your child” without missing a beat.

How can I increase or decrease my giving, or stop making payments altogether?
